UCO Bank Update

UCO Bank possibly seems the biggest hurdle in our redevelopment timelines. However, a lot has happened on this front over the past weeks.

As members may recall, Patrakar Society had filed a case against UCO Bank and had appointed Advocate Nixon George for the same.

In the meeting on July 3, 2026, both the advocates, that of Agami and Patrakar,
decided that Agami will now be pursuing the UCO Bank case with their advocate, as it is their obligation under the selection process.

Accordingly, the advocate of Agami suggested a lawyer Karim Vakil and fixed a meeting with him that very same evening. Hon. Secy and our advocate Krishna Tanna met Karim Vakil at his office.

In our next meeting on July 28, 2026, Advocate of Agami suggested another
lawyer – Suraj Shah, with whom the Hon. Secretary and the advocates had a
video call to explain the facts of the case. His views were also similar to Karim
Vakil. Both the advocates decided to go along with Karim Vakil as the Counsel.
Both were of the view that the Small Causes Court may not give a favourable verdict and we may have to go to the High Court for remedy.

Meanwhile, Prashant Khandelwal of Agami will work out on alternate plans of vacating UCO Bank before members are asked to vacate.

Vakalatnama has been issued in favour of Karim Vakil.

Nixon George was paid his outstanding demand of Rs 80,000/-, after negotiation, for his services till now before obtaining the NOC.

All original documents given to him were collected back. The next court hearing is on 17th August.

Meanwhile UCO Bank has stopped paying the rental from June 2026, which
they were Suo moto depositing in our account, despite the society not raising the bills since February 2026. We are not sure, if they are now depositing the rent in the Court as per the Interim Application filed in March 2026 by advocate Nixon George.

We will keep the members updated on further developments.
